The Importance of Drug Prevention Education for Our Kids, with Guest and Retired DEA Special Agent - Rocky Herron
Happy New Year and welcome back to the Davenport! On this week's episode Jamie and Guy welcome retired DEA Special Agent, Rocky Herron, to discuss the importance of drug prevention education for our kids. His mission is: to empower students to make smarter choices by showing them the true impact of substance abuse on the individual, the family, school, city, nation, and the global community. He began seeing a need for drug prevention education when his daughter was in 5th grade and he discovered there was no formal program in place. What he thought would be one assembly has turned into 700 presentations to over 140,000 students in elementary schools, high schools and universities in the U.S. and 14 other countries over the last 15 years. In his presentations he shares his insights and experiences from his time in the DEA, highlighting the devastating effects that drug addiction can have on young people and their families. He stresses the importance of education and early intervention in preventing kids from experimenting with drugs, and encourages parents and educators to be vigilant and proactive in addressing the issue. He also shares some practical tips and resources for parents and educators to use in their efforts to keep kids safe from drugs.
