Fear is a primal response that alerts us to danger. It can stem from real or imagined threats. For our ancient ancestors that might have been a bear outside their cave - but nowadays our fears might look more like taking a test, speaking in public, interviewing for a job - not as life-threatening but still fear-inducing.
